Born in Tokyo in 1997, Kei Shimizu began playing the piano at the age of 3. She continued her musical education at Kunitachi College of Music, where she earned her degree in piano performance and a teaching certification for secondary school. She then pursued advanced studies at the Toho Music University Graduate School, followed by training in Vienna, Austria, and later in Paris.
Currently based in Paris, Kei Shimizu continues her studies at the École Normale de Musique under the guidance of Pascal Roger. She has also studied chamber music with Yasuko Taneda, Yuko Asayama, Kei Kozono, and Yuki Nakajima, and accompaniment with Shinichiro Kato and Kozue Tanaka.
Kei Shimizu is particularly known for her interpretation of French composers such as Debussy, Ravel, and Fauré, capturing the unique sound and tone of French music. In addition to classical works, she also performs a diverse range of music, including arrangements of Disney songs, Ghibli music, and video game soundtracks.
Awards and Performances
Kei Shimizu has received numerous awards in music competitions, including 2nd place at the 6th LÁSZLÒ SPEZZAFERRI International Music Competition. Additionally, she performed the “Concertino with Two Russian Themes” at the Fuji and Green Music Festival.
